Umbrella bearers are usually part of a Malay wedding procession. They provide the bride and groom with much-needed shade and relief from the sun. This was particularly essential in the old “kampong days” when the procession usually took place on foot and outdoors.

This figurine depicts an umbrella bearer with a detachable yellow umbrella. It displays best with the bride & groom (sold separately). Also available in a red umbrella variant.
