Malay weddings consist of different ceremonies and rites held across several days, the most important of which is bersanding (“sitting-in-state ceremony”), where the bride and groom are treated like King and Queen for the day.
Our bride and groom figurines are dressed in coordinated traditional outfits. The bride wears a baju kurung with a gold necklace and hair accessory, and the groom is in a baju melayu with a tanjak on his head. The actual outfits are traditionally made of sonket, which is a hand-woven fabric embroidered with golden threads. To depict this, we embellished the figurines’ outfits with intricate gold decal patterns.
