Miniature Cobbler Figurine
In the early days of Singapore, Cobblers could usually be found in alleyways and streets. Some of them also roved, making their rounds in housing estates on bicycles. Our miniature Cobbler figurine is featured on a low stool with his boxes of tools and materials around him.

More About Cobblers in the Old Days
People in the early days usually tried to salvage their damaged shoes by bringing them to cobblers for mending. With the help of tools and materials like hammers and needles, leather and rubber, a pair of old shoes could get a new lease of life.
Besides mending shoes, cobblers also offered shoe polishing services.
Back then, cobblers learned their trade from shoe shops where they worked. Their hands were usually soiled and blackened from shoe repairs and polishing.
