Though Miniature Stories started out as a figurine company, we’ve also been making soldier-jungle dioramas as a complementary service.
Customers from the SAF (Singapore Armed Forces) have since purchased them as gifts and presented them during ceremonies. And in the course of our interactions, we decided to make some improvements:
- Enable our acrylic light cases to be turned on even when unplugged (so the lights can be on during presentation ceremonies)
- Secure the figurines so they stay in place
- Blend the figurine bases to match the jungle ground
We managed to do just that for a recent project, and we were pretty happy with the outcome. So for your viewing pleasure, here are pictures of the final product!
The New Display Cases
Our latest line of acrylic light cases feature a USB rechargeable battery. It allows the light to stay on for up to 100 minutes when fully charged. Also, we switched to a white lid and base for a classier design!
Embedding and Blending the Figurines
There are pros and cons to leaving the figurines as-is, and blending their bases to match the diorama.
We actually made our soldier figurines with their own jungle-like metal bases so that they display beautifully on their own. However, some feel that they don’t quite match the jungle diorama ground.
The solution? Painting and blending the figurine base. For an even more seamless look, we embed the base to the diorama ground and glue them down permanently – this also works out for those who want to secure the figurines in place.
It takes a lot of time to embed and blend the figurines, but the perfectly-seamless effect is definitely worth it!
Of course, embedding the figurines means that they can never be rearranged or removed from the diorama.
All figurines and light cases featured above are available in our online store! Jungle dioramas are also available for make-to-order!
